Black Sherif, also known as Mohammed Ismail Sharrif, was just awarded the title of 2023 VGMA Artiste of the Year. He has stated that he was anticipating winning the award for Album of the Year.

The album “5 Star” by King Promise was deemed to be the best of the year.

On the Monday, May 8, 2023, episode of TV3’s New Day, Black Sherif joined Cookie Tee and Berla Mundi as co-hosts. During the interview, Black Sherif discussed his disappointment in not being awarded Album of the Year.

“It’s obvious that I was waiting to hear my name, but when it wasn’t mentioned, I responded with ‘Yawa,'” he disclosed. “Obviously, I was waiting to hear my name.” The creator of the hit song “Kwaku the Traveller” claims that he was not dissatisfied because all of the nominees in that category were deserving of an award.

His album ‘The Villain I Never Was’ was up against other albums like as ‘Jamz’ by Sarkodie, ‘My Diary’ by Gyakie, ‘Son of Jacob’ by Kwesi Arthur, ‘Kadosh’ by Joe Mettle, and the ultimate winner, ‘5 Star’ by King Promise. The victory of King Promise has already caused some controversy on social media, as the vast majority of users and supporters of Black Sherif were under the impression that it was a victory for their camp.

From the award for Best Hip-hop Song of the Year to the award for Best Music Video to the award for Best Hip-life/Hip-hop Artiste to the award for Most Popular Song to the award for Artiste of the Year, he won the majority of the accolades he was nominated for, and he emphasized how thrilled he was about this.

He revealed that he will work with other artists in the future, but only when the circumstances are optimal.
