WWE superstar Bray Wyatt is dead. News of the 36-year-old's unexpected death was announced by 14-time world champion and Chief Content Officer Triple H.
What killed Bray Wyatt?
According to Triple H, he received a call from Wyatt’s father, a former wrestler, confirming his death on Thursday, August 24.
“Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda, who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life, Windham Rotunda - also known as Bray Wyatt - unexpectedly passed earlier today.
Our thoughts are with his family, and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time,” he wrote on Twitter.
WWE did not immediately release the location or cause of death but said it was unexpected.
However, unconfirmed reports indicated that he had suffered a heart attack.
Wyatt first became WWE Champion in 2017 and wrestled as multiple characters during his career.
He was a member of The Wyatt Family alongside Braun Strowman, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper.
Wyatt also had an alter ego called The Fiend and his signature move was Sister Abigail.
Tributes poured in from fans and the WWE family, including Dwayne Johnson, who went by The Rock in the ring.
“I’m heartbroken over the news of Bray Wyatt’s passing.
Always had tremendous respect and love for him and the Rotunda family,” he wrote.
Wyatt had not competed since his win over LA Knight at the Royal Rumble in January.
