 All teachers under the Ghana Education Service are been paid based on ranks. The ranks are determined by the promotional level of the teacher.

In today’s article, we will be looking at the salary of teachers in Ghana under the Ghana Education Service.

The base pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) was increased by 30 per cent across the board for 2023 for all public sector workers.

Following this, teachers and staff at the Ghana Education Service have also seen an increment of their basic pay. The base pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) was increased by 30 per cent across the board for 2023.

This increment took effect from January 1.

However, the difference between the different salary scales on the SSSS, which is technically known as pay point relativity, remains at 1.7 per cent.
The 30 per cent is the biggest increment organised labour has secured out of negotiations with the government since 2010 when the government increased the base pay by 20 per cent and again by the same margin in 2011.

Since the current administration came to power in 2017, the highest increment has been 12 per cent, which was secured in 2017.
