There will be primaries for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on May 13, 2023, and some of the delegates in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency of the Central Region are not happy that the party’s National Organizer, Joseph Yamin, has been accused of openly campaigning for an aspiring candidate. At a meeting with delegates at Moree, Joseph Yamin, and Prof. Nana Ama Brown Klutse, an aspirant candidate for Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency, and her campaign team allegedly told the gathering that ex-President John Dramani Mahama had declared the disqualification of Felix Ofosu Kwakye, so they (the delegates) should vote for Prof. Nana Ama Brown Klutse. This reportedly angered.
According to reports, however, the statement angered the followers of Felix Ofosu Kyakye, a potential contender, and they began to leave the gathering grounds. The following damage to Prof. Nana Ama Brawn Klutse’s campaign vehicles was taken as an outlet for their frustration. The victim, identified as Joseph Yamin, was allegedly forced into a vehicle and driven away. The delegates are demanding an answer from John Dramani Mahama as to whether he was responsible for sending Joseph Yamin to speak out for a candidate despite Yamin’s neutrality oath.
More specifically, they cautioned Joseph Yamin and the rest of the party’s national executives not to support any candidate in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency. They also cautioned Vincent Koomson, the chairman of the constituency, against supporting the aspirant candidate, Nana Ama Brown Klutse. Meanwhile, the Moree Police Station has been notified of the vandalism and will be conducting an investigation.
